Std.Archive.Zip.entryLimit

1 declaration

fn

entryLimit: Int

This is a callable function.

What it does

What this reads and writes.

The zip format as it is used for the things that arrive: a document from a

spreadsheet program, a deployment bundle, an upload from a browser. Entries

are stored or deflated, which is what every writer produces; the archive's

directory is at the end, which is what every reader looks for first.

It does not read encrypted entries, spanned archives, or the 64-bit

extensions. Each is refused rather than half-read: an encrypted entry read

as though it were not is a file of noise, and a reader that ignored the

64-bit fields would answer with the low half of a size.

How large a single entry may be when read, in bytes.

A compressed entry can claim to expand to any size at all, and a reader

that believed it would allocate whatever an archive asked for. This is what

makes a hostile archive a refusal rather than a memory exhaustion.
