This is a callable function.

What it does

A name safe to write to disk, or the reason there is none.

Only what follows the last separator of either kind survives, so a name

carrying a directory carries nothing after this. Nothing is decoded first:

what arrived is what was sent, and undoing an encoding before checking is

how a check is bypassed.
